Scottish Fire and Rescue (SFRS) say they are in attendance in Glasgow following reports of a building fire

A fire has reportedly erupted at a building in Glasgow this evening – days after a vape shop blaze saw a historic building burn to the ground in the city centre.

Multiple emergency service vehicles have swarmed a quiet street in the Tradeston area this evening. Scottish Fire and Rescue (SFRS) have confirmed they are in attendance at the incident at Carnoustie Street, just south of the river from the city centre, Glasgow Live reports.

A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue stated: “Scottish Fire and Rescue units are currently in attendance at Carnoustie Street in Glasgow. Six appliances and specialist resources are on site following reports of a building fire.”

A witness at the scene took an image showing multiple emergency vehicles, including fire engines, at the scene of the incident, which began just after 6.30pm.

It comes days after a huge blaze gutted a building at Glasgow Central Station on Sunday, causing it to partially collapse.

The fire began in a vape shop on Union Street on Sunday afternoon before the flames spread rapidly. Glasgow Central, Scotland’s busiest station, was closed with National Rail saying there was “no estimate on when the station will reopen”.

Crews continued to battle the blaze at 5am, more than 13 hours after firefighters first raced to the scene. No injuries have been reported.
