The easy task can be done in seconds and will make your home ‘feel cleaner’
Households have been urged to do one very simple task to keep homes “feeling cleaner”. Spring is an ideal time to get cleaning, especially as the lighter days show up more dust and dirt.
Plus, many of us will be having family and friends round for the Easter weekend and half term break. However, it can be quite the job to keep on top of.
Cleaning expert Lynsey Crombie has shared one easy task that can make cleaning the home much quicker. She says it is one of the “simplest” and “most effective” ways to instantly make a home feel cleaner.
Her tip is to open the windows of your home. While the hack might sound too simple, Lynsey said: “Honestly, one of the simplest (and most effective) cleaning tips is just opening your windows.
“Fresh air instantly lifts your home, helps remove stale smells, reduces moisture and makes everything feel cleaner in seconds — no products needed.”
Lynsey shared her tip to her Queen of Clean social media accounts, with many followers sharing how they’ve followed her advice.
One said: “I’m so happy now that it’s mild enough to do this! Also my kids have been playing in the garden loads and just leaving the back door wide open so there’s that.”
Another added: “I love fresh air through the house.” Someone else commented: “Love opening windows it’s free and allows fresh air in and any negativity out x.” A fourth wrote: “You just can’t beat it xx.”
Not only can opening windows help homes stay clean and fresh, it can also help to battle condensation. Window condensation is more common in the winter, yet some spring mornings can still be chilly.
It occurs due to the temperature contrast between the warmth of your home and the chill of the outside air. Condensation can also build up in hot bathrooms and while cooking in the kitchen.
Posting on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, Lisa Stewart said: “When cleaning clients’ houses, I see lots of homes that struggle with condensation. Ventilation is the only way to get rid of it.”
She added: “Open your window for 15 minutes every morning. It works wonders for putting an end to window condensation and even mould.”
It has been recommended to open the windows after spells of rain, after a shower or cooking to allow air to circulate and release any moisture that has entered your home.
