A-road to remain closed until rush hour, National Highways data indicates

Lincs motorists are facing a morning of misery as a major stretch of the A46 is set to remain shut following a collision at Swinderby.

The dual carriageway is currently a no-go zone for northbound drivers, with both lanes of the carriageway closed between the A1133 and the A1434 junction.. Police have locked down the scene to carry out investigations into what ,ay have caused the crash, whjile Natiopnal Highways data indicates the road will remain shut for some time.

National Highways traffic data indicates the current restoration time for full road access sits at about 6am, at time of writing. So, just as rush hour begins, which couldn’t be worse timing for local drivers. While recovery teams hope to have the lanes cleared by dawn, that estimate is subject to change as the incident remains ongoing.

As roads across the region struggle to cope overnight with the diverted dual-carriageway traffic, rush hour is likely to be a miserable one for drivers in Lincs, with delays likely to increse as more and more people hit the road for their morning commute.

Our top tip? Keep up your hydration up and maybe take some ibuprofen in the car with you… just in case any stress headaches come a-calling during your morning commute.
