Shoppers said they loved the deal after a customer praised the offer in a viral social media post
A Waterstones customer has wowed fans after praising an ‘awesome’ deal that several shoppers ‘never knew’ about. Book lovers said they were not aware of a ‘free drink’ offer available at some locations.
Customers added that they were keen to make the most of the deal after learning about it from a viral TikTok video. Taking to the platform as @Phoebes.booktok, a UK-based content creator named Phoebe told social media users: “PSA: If you get Waterstones’ book of the month, you get a free drink.”
In her caption, she added: “Bet you didn’t know this about Waterstones! If you get their book of the month (this month is the paperback of the raven’s scholar) then you get a free drink! I went for an iced latte with coconut milk and hazelnut syrup!”
For shoppers visiting participating stores, the monthly deal could be well worth checking out. The bookshop typically picks several Book of the Month winners across various categories, including fiction, non-fiction, and children’s books. So it could be ideal for Cafe W fans.
Waterstones Bradford recently advertised the deal in a post on their Instagram account, writing: “Enjoy a free drink in our Cafe W when you purchase one of our May BOTM’s! A range of books for everyone!”
Based on the response to @Phoebes.booktok’s video, several Waterstones shoppers hadn’t heard of the deal before – but they loved it. Her post gained over 20,000 views and thousands of likes.
Commenting under Phoebe’s video, a fan replied: “I never knew this!” A second comment said: “No way I never knew this.” A third comment read: “For real??” A fourth asked: “HOW?” Another commenter thought: “This is awesome!”
There was more praise. An excited customer replied: “Omg I must do this.” Someone else said: “I did not know this.” Phoebe replied: “Ikr! I only found out today!! watch me now buy a new book every month for free coffee.”
The viewer responded: “No judgment, buying books is such a hobby.” Phoebe added: “Hahaha, it is actually such a great way to spend your Sunday!”
Elsewhere, a booker lover shared: “Just found out on Thursday! Bought Heart The Lover.” Another commenter said they loved Phoebe’s pick, writing: “The Raven Scholar is an amazing book!”
But someone replied: “Cries in my local Waterstones doesn’t have a cafe in it.” A similar comment read: “No I didn’t know this but I’ve never been to a Waterstones that does drinks either.”
