Large parts of England are set for a mini spring scorcher this weekend, with weather maps showing temperatures could hit 21C in some areas — even hotter than Ibiza, according to forecasters
Large swathes of England are braced for a mini spring heatwave this weekend, with weather maps indicating temperatures could soar to 21C in certain areas — hotter than Ibiza.
Weather maps from WXCharts, generated on April 21 using Met Desk data, suggest the warmer spell will roll in on Saturday April 25, with southern and central regions of the country recording highs of between 18C and 21C by 6pm.
London, the South East of England, East Anglia and parts of the Midlands are anticipated to be amongst the warmest spots, according to the maps. Forecast charts show temperatures of 20C across London, Essex, Kent and Hertfordshire, while parts of Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and the East Midlands could equally reach 20C or 21C.
Further towards the southwest, areas including Bristol, Somerset and parts of Devon are predicted to experience temperatures of around 18C to 19C, the charts indicate. Much of Wales is forecast to sit between 16C and 18C, while northern England could see highs of 15C to 18C.

Scotland is expected to be cooler overall, though some western areas could still bask in temperatures of 15C or 16C, the maps reveal. Northern and eastern Scotland are likely to remain considerably chillier, with highs of just 6C to 10C in some locations, the maps show.
The warmer conditions are expected to follow a cooler and more unsettled period earlier in the week, delivering a far more agreeable end to April for much of the UK. The forecast highs would leave parts of Britain warmer than Ibiza, where temperatures on Saturday, April 25, are expected to reach around 20C.
According to Spanish national forecaster AEMET, Ibiza is predicted to experience a high of 20C and a low of 10C on Saturday, accompanied by sunny spells, a 50% likelihood of rain later in the day and easterly winds of approximately 15km/h.
Ibiza is then anticipated to remain warm through Sunday and Monday, with highs of 21C and 22C respectively, reports the Express. The mildest conditions in the UK are expected to be concentrated across inland areas of southern and eastern England, while coastal regions may stay slightly cooler owing to sea breezes.
Separately, the Met Office outlook covering the period between Thursday and Saturday stated: “Largely settled this week with plenty of sunshine, and winds easing. Cloudy and cool at times along eastern coasts with an onshore breeze. Warming up in the south and west.”
Temperatures have been on the rise all week, increasing from the 17.1C high recorded on Monday. This was noted in Coton-in-the-Elms, Derbyshire, and, on the same day, 16C was recorded in Aberporth, west Wales.
