A number of businesses have been forced to appoint administrators recently, including a cleaning firm, an energy company and a distillery too.
Throughout the past week or so, several companies have been forced to appoint administrators, including a delivery company, a burger restaurant chain and a cleaning firm. So many different industries have faced financial difficulties in recent months, and it can be very challenging to recover from.
This is when administrators may be brought in to rescue the entire business, or just parts of it. Occasionally this involves restructuring or selling, with employees sometimes being made redundant. Here’s a summary of all the most recent administration developments you should know about.
WeFlex
This firm specialising in supplying electric vehicles and flexible car financing for ride-hailing motorists, including those driving for Uber and Bolt, has gone into administration. It mainly functions in London and Birmingham.
It was founded in 2016 by Nicko Williamson. Over the past eight years, they have assembled a workforce of more than 50 staff and a fleet of more than 2,300 vehicles. Since 2020, it has run electric vehicles exclusively.
Rather than a total collapse, WeFlex has joined forces with Otto Car to guarantee that motorists currently operating are not left stranded.
Quiver Delivery
After being founded in 2021, Quiver Delivery has appointed liquidators this week. The London and Paris-headquartered operation offered an emission-free delivery service. The service focuses on enabling retailers to offer same-hour, same-day or next-day delivery to shoppers.
The firm aimed “to be the physical connection between brands and their customers.”
Meatalier
Meatalier, which runs MEATliquor, brought in administrators this week. The group, with venues across several busy London locations, including Oxford Street and Covent Garden, has recently seen multiple restaurants shut down due to financial difficulties.
Sites in Islington, Clapham Junction and Queensway have all shut their doors, as well as the company’s only regional outlet in Brighton.
MEATliquor has established itself as a ‘cult-favorite’ UK restaurant chain, having transformed from a mobile burger van into a prominent figure in the “dirty burger” and street food trend.
UK Truck and Plant Group LTD
This company, which focuses on the repair and maintenance of commercial fleet vehicles, recently brought in administrators. No update has come out about the business’s future or whether any positions might be impacted by the development.
The operation is a Fiat Professional authorised service centre and reportedly specialises in everything from HGVS MOT testing to fault diagnosis and repair of plant machinery.
Nightingale Cleaning
The Cambridge -based firm has entered administration, having originally launched in 1981. It employs over 500 staff members who have completed 130,000 shifts across more than 200 sites.
The business delivers services including commercial cleaning and window cleaning to various types and scales of organisations across East Anglia, The Midlands and the South of England. Among its customers are University of Cambridge, the Olympian Tower in Stratford and others.
GivEnergy
One of Britain’s biggest producers of battery storage systems has gone into administration. The firm has stopped trading and the entire workforce has been laid off.
It will no longer honour hardware warranties or maintain user and software support. The business creates and produces energy storage systems utilised by households and companies in the UK and internationally, with its products being distributed in Europe, Australia and South Africa.
Zymurgorium
The Manchester-based distillery has gone into administration following 11 years of operation. Its range is stocked in supermarkets including Tesco and B&M.
The beverages brand has received award nominations, including the Grocer Magazine Awards in 2024, the People’s Choice Wine Awards in 2021, and the Salford Business Awards in 2019.
Their cocktail venue, Project Halcyon in Manchester, was also recognised amongst the top 50 in the UK.
