‘Love the pillows, it’s so cool and comfy.’

Investing in sleep tech is always a worthwhile idea, especially considering we spend around a third of our lives asleep. Right now, there’s even more reason to upgrade as Emma Sleep has launched a Big Summer Sale with up to 30% off sitewide, including discounts on its cooling range.

The Emma Comfort Cooling Pillow is now £60 from £80, saving shoppers £20. The medium-firm pillow is made with Emma’s exclusive Outlast technology, which helps regulate temperature by absorbing, storing and releasing heat throughout the night

In addition to cooling credentials, the pillow is filled with soft microfibre that provides supportive cushioning for the neck and shoulders while maintaining a plush, fluffy feel. It’s also fully adjustable thanks to removable inner layers, allowing shoppers to tailor the height and firmness to suit their preferred sleeping position.

The Comfort Cooling Pillow has had some great reviews too, with one person sharing: “Love my pillows, love that I can adapt it to my personal sleep position. The quality is outstanding, great value too. I would definitely recommend. Thank you.”

Meanwhile, another focused on its cooling properties: “Love the pillows, it’s so cool and comfy.” And another agreed: “Great pillows, nice and large and firm. I can sit up in bed and feel really supported, and yes, they stay cool.”

Emma Sleep’s soft down-like microfibre pillow aims to keep users cool and comfortable.

However, as with all sleep tech, the pillow won’t suit everyone’s sleeping habits. This three-star review reads: “Lovely quality pillow and Amazing how you can adjust the layers, I just can’t get comfortable as a side sleeper.”

Side sleepers may prefer Dunelm’s Snuggledown Side Sleeper Pillow (£20) instead. It aims to offer the right level of comfort and support for the head and neck while keeping the spine straight for a comfortable night’s sleep.

On a brighter note, this Comfort Cooling Pillow fan said: “I LOVE that this pillow consists of various layers that can be taken out or put in to adjust the height. It’s also fully machine washable, which is a big plus.

“And then it’s so so so soft, and I’m sleeping amazingly. I highly recommend this pillow to everyone.”

Beyond the pillows, Emma has also discounted some of its top-rated mattresses, including the Original Pro Mattress (now £559.20 from £699 for a double) and the Original Elite Mattress (£699.30 from £999 for a double). Both are designed to increase breathability, once again helping shoppers sleep better in high temperatures.

The more affordable of the two, the Original Pro Mattress, has a layer of ThermoSync foam – a clever graphite-infused material to capture excess heat from the body. In addition to its cooling properties, it uses a blend of memory foam and pocket springs to cushion and properly support the body, regardless of shoppers’ preferred sleeping position.

It has also had some great reviews, with one person sharing: “This is such a comfortable mattress! It has the perfect mixture of soft yet not too squishy, and you can move around on your side of the bed without disturbing your other half on the other side. No problem in dropping off to sleep in an instant.”

However, some shoppers have noted the mattress takes a little longer than expected to expand once it’s out of the box. A decent pre-assembled alternative is Dreams Workshop Richards Traditional Spring Memory Mattress (£209, was £349 for a double), which features pressure-relieving memory foam and a knitted cover.

Meanwhile, an Emma Sleep fan said: “Very comfy, and keeping us cool in this heatwave.” And a third said: “I’m sleeping deeper, it’s so much comfier, and I wake up feeling fresh instead of creaky. It has made our bed a much nicer place to be.”
