Sarah Ferguson has not been seen publicly for months, raising questions about her whereabouts – now some of her friends have come forward to speak about how she is coping behind closed doors
Friends of the former Duchess of York have spoken out about how she is coping following Andrew’s bombshell arrest on Thursday.
Sarah moved out of Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate alongside her ex-husband last month, with the pair having faced intense scrutiny over their friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew, who has been arrested at Sandringham, has vehemently and consistently denied any wrongdoing.
This marks the first time in modern history that a senior member of the British Royal family has been arrested. Pictures show unmarked police cars attending Wood Farm on the sprawling Norfolk estate, where Andrew has been staying temporarily, with plain-clothed officers appearing to gather outside the property on the former prince’s 66th birthday.

The former prince has now been released from custody after police arrested him on suspicion of misconduct in public office on Thursday, but he remains “under investigation”.
But Sarah has not been seen publicly for months, raising questions about her whereabouts. One friend told the Daily Mail: ‘She feels deeply depressed and that the world is out to get her. She is very, very down. Some people, including Sarah herself, are worried for her mental health.

‘[But] what she doesn’t appear to feel is remorse for what has happened. She just wants this to all go away and allow her to get on with her life. Her head is in the sand.’
A source added: “The whole family is frankly finished. No one will open their wallets now. Sarah wants to be left alone to get on with her life, but that’s unlikely to happen.”
The former prince was stripped of his titles by Charles last year after the posthumous release of a book by Virginia Giuffre who alleged she was trafficked by Epstein and his former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell when she was 17. Andrew paid millions to Ms Giuffre, a woman he has claimed never to have met, to settle a civil sexual assault claim in 2022.
