Yacht maintenance and management specialists PSA Prime Marine, helmed by Su and Pete Stirling, have taken another step forward in their growth journey by joining forces with the South Hampshire College Group to nurture and employ future marine engineers.

As part of a hands-on learning initiative, the company recently hosted two local students aged 18 for their compulsory college work placements. One standout, Tamim, impressed the team with his strong initiative, work ethic, and practical skills.

After recognising his potential, PSA Prime Marine invited Tamim—originally from Iran—to remain on a part-time basis while he continues his studies. He’s since become a valued team member, taking on a broad mix of responsibilities such as polishing, painting, servicing, varnishing, and plumbing work.

“Tamim’s work ethic and enthusiasm have been outstanding,” said Pete Stirling, Co-Founder of PSA Prime Marine. “He’s exactly the kind of young person we want to support and develop in this industry. It’s a pleasure to be able to give him the hands-on experience that complements his studies.”

The added support has arrived at a critical time, following increased business activity post-boat show and a growing customer base. With eyes on further expansion, the firm is now refining its branding and marketing approach—driven in part by a passionate and talented team.

PSA Prime Marine has also revealed plans to bring Tamim on full-time after he completes his college course in June. The company is keen to continue its collaboration with South Hampshire College Group to open doors for more students in the years ahead.

“We’re passionate about playing a role in shaping the next generation of marine engineers,” added Su Stirling. “Working closely with the college gives us the opportunity to nurture young talent while offering students real-world experience that directly supports their education.

“Having been a teacher myself, I know just how important it is for young people to put theory into practice. There’s only so much you can learn in a classroom – true growth happens when you’re out in the real world, solving real problems. We’ve created an environment here that encourages curiosity, champions dedication, and gives students the space to build confidence and skill through hands-on experience. It’s incredibly rewarding to see that spark when someone realises they’re capable of more than they thought.”

This forward-thinking approach is another demonstration of PSA Prime Marine’s dedication to quality, sustainability, and shaping the future of marine engineering in the UK.
