Pet owners can now choose higher levels of lifetime veterinary cover from Perfect Pet Insurance, following the launch of new £7,000 and £10,000 annual limits for dogs and cats. The options cover all eligible conditions and broaden the insurer’s existing range of lifetime policies.

Part of the Tedaisy Insurance Group, Perfect Pet has introduced the two new limits alongside its established £5,000 per-condition option, giving customers more choice when deciding how much protection to take out for their pets.

The new policies are intended to provide additional financial support when treatment costs are particularly high. The existing £5,000 option applies to each eligible condition individually, whereas the new policies set a single annual allowance across all eligible conditions. As a result, owners choosing either higher level may have more money available towards treatment if one condition alone generates veterinary bills exceeding £5,000.

The policies offer lifetime cover, with the applicable veterinary fee allowance renewed at each annual policy renewal.

This arrangement is relevant for animals living with ongoing conditions such as arthritis, diabetes and skin allergies, which may require repeated veterinary attention and treatment over several years, provided the policy remains in force.

Why now

The launch comes amid continued increases in the cost of veterinary care.

Figures from the Association of British Insurers, released in May 2025 and covering 2024, show that pet insurers paid out £1.23 billion in claims during the year. This was a record total, 4 per cent higher than in 2023, while the average claim reached £685.

The ABI has pointed to rising veterinary fees as one factor behind the increase. Office for National Statistics data recorded a 9.1 per cent rise in the cost of vets and other pet services during 2024.

The Competition and Markets Authority has also taken action following its investigation into the veterinary services sector. Its measures require UK veterinary practices to publish their prices and cap prescription fees, reflecting growing attention to the affordability and transparency of veterinary treatment.

What Perfect Pet says

“Owners tell us the same thing again and again: they want to say yes to the treatment their vet recommends without doing the sums first,” said Paul Byrne, Group Chairman and CEO of Tedaisy Insurance Group.

“Referral work, advanced imaging and long-term medication are now part of everyday veterinary care, and a single year of treatment can run well past £5,000. Our new £7,000 and £10,000 levels mean that when one serious condition needs more than that, owners have more cover available towards it.”

Byrne added: “Pet insurance has become an everyday financial product for millions of households. Our job is to make sure the cover keeps pace with the bills, not just the premiums.”

What comes with Perfect Pet lifetime cover

The latest cover levels also give customers access to the benefits available across Perfect Pet’s lifetime policy range:

  • Policies can start from four weeks of age, with no upper age limit for new applications
  • A 15 per cent discount for customers insuring multiple pets
  • Complimentary 24-hour access to Vet Assist calls with a veterinary nurse
  • Discounts on prescription medication

Perfect Pet has received an “Excellent” Trustpilot rating from more than 17,000 reviews.

The insurer was named Best Pet Insurance Provider UK 2025 at the Insurance Choice Awards and holds a five-star Moneyfacts rating for dog insurance in 2026.

Available now

The new £7,000 and £10,000 lifetime cover policies can now be purchased for dogs and cats throughout the UK.

The premium quoted will depend on several factors, including the animal’s species, breed, age and location, alongside the selected level of cover.
