The dessert was mispackaged, posing an allergy risk
A well-known chocolate pudding has been hit with a product recall notice from the manufacturer and an allergy warning from the Food Standards Agency, due to an undeclared allergen that was overlooked on the packaging. The cheesecake item from Gü Indulgent Foods was incorrectly packaged with a cheesecake variety containing hazelnuts.
Gü stated that a particular date code of its Gü Blonde Chocolate Cheesecake is impacted by the recall. Shoppers are being warned not to consume the dessert and to verify the batch number and use-by date on the packaging.
The pudding may present a health risk to individuals who have an allergy to hazelnuts and nuts. The FSA’s risk statement noted: “This product may contain hazelnuts, making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to hazelnuts (nuts).”
Gü confirmed that the dessert is being withdrawn as the product may contain an incorrect ingredient that contains hazelnuts. This nut allergen is not listed on the label, reports the Express.
The product impacted by the recall can be found below, alongside the batch code and use-by date:
- Gü Blonde Chocolate Cheesecake 2 x 82g
- Batch number – 226044
- Use by date – March 12, 2026
Shoppers are advised to take the product back to the store of purchase to obtain a full refund. No receipt will be necessary.
Gü Indulgent Foods has withdrawn the affected product from customers and shop shelves, and has been instructed to notify relevant allergy support organisations, which will inform their members about the recall.
Gü wrote in its recall notice: “If you have purchased one of the affected products, please do not eat it. Please do not consume these products if you have an allergy to nut/hazelnuts. Return the affected product to store where a full refund will be given. No receipt required.”
