An urgent recall for the product has been issued over safety fears

Parents have been warned to immediately stop using a specific product designed for their babies due to serious health and safety concerns. The Office for Product Safety and Standards shared the urgent alert across its social media platforms today (Saturday, May 9).

The product recall was issued for the Babysense Max View Wireless Digital Video Baby Monitor owing to ‘a risk of fire’. Customers have been instructed to cease using it straight away following the recall by Hisense.

The full post from the Office for Product Safety and Standards reads: “Product Recall for Babysense Max View Wireless Digital Video Baby Monitor.

“The parent unit of this product presents a risk of fire as the battery within the unit (model reference YC6048115P) may overheat during charging. Such overheating may escalate into thermal runaway. The product has been recalled from customers by Hisense.

“Anyone with this product should stop using the product immediately. To determine if your product is affected and to register for a replacement Parent Unit, please visit: https://support.recallsecure.com/en-gb

“Only serial numbers beginning with ‘MVRX’ are affected. The serial number can be located on the back of the parent unit (i.e. the video monitor display unit/screen) – see Annex A in the recall notice. Other models and ASINs are out of this recall scope. The listings have been removed by the online marketplaces (Amazon).”

The product description for the monitor states that it is a wireless digital video baby monitor, consisting of a video monitor display unit/screen (the ‘parent’ unit); a camera (the ‘baby’ unit) and AC power adapters used to charge both units.

When both units are switched on, the display screen on the parent unit will show the video/image captured by the baby unit. Only serial numbers beginning with ‘MVRX’ are affected. The serial number can be found on the back of the parent unit (i.e. the video monitor display unit/screen) – see Annex A in the linked PDF. All other models and ASINs fall outside the scope of this recall.
