Sainsbury’s shoppers can now collect one Nectar point for every £1 spent on Sainsbury’s products through Uber Eats in a major expansion of the loyalty scheme
Shoppers are being urged to add their Nectar details before ordering food from Sainsbury’s via Uber Eats.
In a major expansion of the loyalty scheme, customers can now collect one Nectar point for every £1 spent on eligible Sainsbury’s products through the Uber Eats app or website.
But shoppers must enter their full Nectar card number at checkout, or they will miss out, as points cannot be awarded retrospectively.
The new collection option is available through participating Sainsbury’s stores on Uber Eats, with the wider rollout covering more than 1,300 locations across the UK.
It means customers using the rapid-delivery service for fresh food, household essentials or last-minute purchases can now earn rewards on their orders.
Once a Nectar card has been added, qualifying points will be credited to the shopper’s account within 28 days. A minimum spend of £1 applies.
Several products are excluded, including gift vouchers, baby milk, lottery tickets, tobacco, vapes, nicotine products, proprietary medicines, spirits and liqueurs. Additional restrictions apply to alcohol purchases in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The launch expands the existing relationship between Nectar and Uber, which already allows members to exchange points for vouchers covering Uber journeys and Uber Eats orders.
Customers can therefore collect Nectar points when buying Sainsbury’s groceries through Uber Eats and later exchange their balance for an Uber voucher.
To redeem points, members should open the Nectar app, visit the “Partners” section and select Uber. Katie Hunter, Uber Eats general manager for grocery and retail in the UK, said: “We know how much Uber Eats customers love Nectar, so bringing points directly to their Sainsbury’s orders was a no-brainer.
“Now, they can collect Nectar points on all their Sainsbury’s essentials as well as spending them across the entire Uber app. It’s all about delivering flexibility, convenience and value for customers right alongside their favourite groceries.”
Mark Given, Sainsbury’s chief technology, marketing and data officer, said the expansion would give Nectar members another way to receive value from the partnership.
He said: “Nectar members can already turn their points into Uber rides or Uber Eats treats – and now they can collect points when ordering Sainsbury’s groceries through Uber Eats too.
“It’s another way we’re helping customers get more from Nectar, whether they’re stocking up on essentials, planning dinner or making everyday life that little bit easier.”
Shoppers wishing to collect points must select groceries from a participating Sainsbury’s store through Uber Eats and provide their Nectar card number before completing the transaction.
