I’ve spent a few weeks with Oodie’s premium weighted blanket – and I have some thoughts
As the colder weather approaches, many of us will be reaching for our dressing gowns and blankets as temperatures begin to plummet. Most shoppers might be aware of Oodie, the brand specialising in oversized wearable blankets that merge blankets and dressing gowns into one.
Unknown to some, the brand also sells its own weighted blankets. For the past few weeks, I’ve been testing Oodie’s own weighted blanket, and I was left pleasantly surprised. It’s got me through a terrible bout of food poisoning, kept me warm through a cold spell and helped me fall asleep more easily most nights.
When the weighted blanket arrived, I was impressed by the packaging. It came in the classic Oodie blue box with a cotton bag that actually makes the product feel more premium. Coming onto the weighted blanket itself, it comes with a glass bead core with seven layers of material and the quality really shows through when it’s unpacked and used.
It’s soft, plush and has a great weightiness to it. Oodie offers the weighted blanket in a number of variants and colours with weights going from 4.5kg to 9kg and colours like grey, pink, green and more, which comes onto one of my main niggles with the product.
Grab the Oodie weighted blanket
The Oodie weighted blanket is a premium garment from the experts over at Oodie.
Pros
- Soft and plush material throughout the blanket
- Customisable weight from 4.5kg to 9kg
- Great quality construction, fabric and design
- Quite large for the money
Cons
- Price is high buis well made to match
- I wasn’t a fan of the fabric (personal preference)
Oodie offers all of the weighted blankets in a minky polyester, which adds a shiny finish to the blanket. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of this minky material. I also think there’s a huge opportunity for Oodie to customise its weighted blankets with all the countless designs it offers in its Oodie collection.
The quality and the weightiness of the blanket are impressive. The Oodie weighted blanket has also added an extra weight and comfort to help me fall asleep at night, too, a benefit I wasn’t expecting.
It has helped improve my sleep by adding that extra bit of weight on top of my duvet, which allows me to fall asleep more easily. One thing that puts me off the blanket, however, is the price.
It usually retails for £109, but is regularly discounted to £69, a price which is above alternatives, like this one from Winthome for £39.99. Silentnight sells a cooling weighted blanket for around £60, showing just how expensive the Oodie comes in at however, the quality is brilliant.
Conclusion
I’m a big fan of the Oodie weighted blanket. It’s been a hardy workhorse in the past couple of weeks, helping me sleep and keeping me sane during a terrible bout of food poisoning. It’s also incredibly well built, cosy and weighty with a number of different colours and combinations to choose from.
At a price of £109 (currently £69 at the time of writing), it’s an expensive purchase and one of the more pricy weighted blankets on the market. Nonetheless, a premium fit for shoppers with the budget to match.
