Fans raved about the ‘fresh’ scent that ‘lingers for hours’
Shoppers are claiming that a perfume at M&S, which is available for as little as £8, could convince others that they are wearing a much more expensive designer label worth over £120. People say its fruity scent is “perfect for spring and summer”.
The M&S Fresh Mandarin Eau de Toilette is available in 30ml for £8 and 100ml for £12. Describing the fragrance online, M&S bosses say: “Embrace the zingy scent of citrus with this eau de toilette from our Discover collection.
“This layered scent opens with notes of fruity cassis and orange flower, alongside the star of the show, mandarin. This develops into a floral heart of jasmine, rose, and ylang ylang with the sweetness of tonka bean, rounded off with a creamy amber, vanilla and sandalwood base.”
One Instagram user claims that people who tend to spend much more on a designer bottle of Carolina Herrera should consider this as an affordable alternative. Laura, who goes by the username @Moneysavingofficial on Instagram, said: “This M&S fragrance could save you £128.”
Laura claims that the scent is “just like” Carolina Herrera’s Good Girl for a fraction of the price. Looking at a similarly sized bottle of the designer perfume, an 80ml bottle available at Boots and at The Perfume Shop, both for £128.
Both sites list the main scent notes from a bottle of Good Girl, such as almond, tuberose, jasmine, tonka bean and cocoa. M&S shoppers have made the comparison, and looking at the details on the high street store’s website, the Fresh Mandarin perfume also contains many similar notes.
The website lists the top notes of “orange flower, cassis and mandarin”, complemented by “tuberose, jasmine, rose, ylang ylang, tonka bean, vanilla, amber and creamy sandalwood”. Shoppers who have bought the perfume are impressed by the ‘bargain’.
In the reviews, one said: “Smells divine [and] by far my favourite scent! Got this in the beauty box and immediately loved it [so I] ordered myself a larger one.”
Another wrote: “The nicest and freshest smell. So nice and perfect scent for spring and summer.” A third shared: “Just a lovely fresh smell. The smell lingers for hours. Worth every penny.”
And, one more put in their review: “I bought this a while back and loved it. So many of my friends commented on it too, saying how lovely it was. It’s fresh, fruity smell and lasts a while too.”
M&S offers lots of different options in its Discover collection, which many online sleuths have matched up to designer brands. Recently, the Midnight Blossom was compared to YSL’s Black Opium, and others have ditched Lancôme’s £127 La Vie Est Belle for M&S’ Pink Pepper instead.
