Operation Grange was launched by the Metropolitan Police in 2011 after Madeleine McCann disappeared from her bed in a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007
There has been a major update regarding the search for Madeleine McCann – nearly 19 years after she went missing.
Home Office ministers approved the request to extend funding for Operation Grange, which was launched in 2011 after Madeleine McCann disappeared from her bed in a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007.
The specialist Metropolitan Police team leading the investigation has been allocated £86,000 for 2026/27, down from £108,000 the previous year.
The inquiry has cost around £13.3 million since it was first launched. Madeleine was on holiday with her family in Praia da Luz in the Algarve, Portugal, in 2007 when she vanished aged just 3 years old.
The 19th anniversary of her disappearance will fall on May 3.
