Did you know Jo Malone creates fragrances for this well-known high street fashion brand?
Many fragrance lovers will have placed a Jo Malone scent at the top of their Christmas wishlists, but if you were one of them and you unfortunately didn’t unwrap one of her designer bottles on the 25th, there’s a way you can buy yourself a slice of Jo for a lot less. In fact, £86 less.
A bottle of Jo Malone cologne retails for £122 on the brand’s official website, but taking a trip down to your local Zara store will score you a scent made by the perfume expert for £35.99. Specifically, the Fashionably London EDP, which Jo calls a “world number one bestseller”.
Taking to her Instagram to talk about the fragrance, Jo, who was given a CBE in 2018 for her significant contributions to the British economy, says: “Did you know that I create fragrances for Zara? I thought I’d share with you one of the best fragrances I created and it’s number one across the world. It’s called Fashionably London.”
She continues: “I’ve got it on right now, it’s so beautiful. I created it like a doorway into the centre of London, and it is, without doubt, one of the best fragrances I think I’ve ever created.”

Zara’s website describes the EDP as a floral, musky fragrance that combines the luminous freshness of bergamot with a subtly romantic rose heart and a clean musk base. On her Instagram, Jo calls it: “Fruity but very woody and leathery but very light. It’s these clashes that really come together.”
Considering Jo created perfumes that include Kate Middleton’s rumoured wedding pick, Orange Blossom Eau de Cologne, and the number one bridal scent pick, Peony & Blush Suede, during her time at Jo Malone London (before she left to create Jo Loves in 2011), it’s pretty amazing that her personal favourite is one that costs a fraction of the price of her others.
Closing the Instagram clip by asking her followers what their favourite perfume is, Jo prompted plenty of fans to weigh in with their signature scents from her Zara offerings.
“Fashionably London elixir – my scent for this season,” one pens, while a second adds: “Ebony Wood has been my signature for a few years. Nothing beats it.”
A third writes: “Fleur D’Oranger is my fave that you’ve made.”
You can pick up Fashionably London and Jo’s other 15 scents for Zara on the brand’s website and in select stores (stock dependent).
