Home Bargains has been rolling out new cafes in their stores with budget friendly options, including a hot dog for 99p, Pepperoni Panini for £2.99 and Chicken Sandwich for £1.85
A viral TikTok review is shining a spotlight on an unexpected budget dining spot with one food fan claiming you can feed three people, get cake and still have change from £15.
Content creator @grumpynorthernfoodie has racked up views after sharing his experience at a Home Bargains in-store cafe, where he put the retailer’s low-cost menu to the test and documented exactly what £13.22 bought him.
Opening the clip, he challenges viewers to beat the value: “Tell me where else you can feed three people, get cake and still have change from £15. Go on, I’ll wait. Home Bargains cafe, that’s where – and I still can’t get my head around it.”

According to the reviewer, ordering was done via self-service screens, which he described as simple and easy to use. In total, he ordered eight items – hot food, drinks and cakes – for £13.22, highlighting what he sees as one of the cheapest cafe meals currently available on the high street.
He also noted that the cafe itself was “spotless” but extremely busy at the time of his visit. “The café itself is spotless, you can’t fault it for that,” he said. “But it is absolutely chocker. Every table full – everyone is in for a bargain brew – so do expect a bit of a wait. But honestly, at these prices, who’s rushing?”
The video then moves into a taste test of the food. First up was a mozzarella and pesto focaccia, which earned surprisingly strong praise. “Great size for the price, loads of filling and honestly it surprised me,” he said. “Proper flavours coming through, bit of crunch on the bread, soft in the middle – really good.”
Next was a pepperoni panini, which he joked was closer in size to a baguette. “Absolutely packed with cheese, plenty of filling, just simple, tasty, no fuss food,” he said. “Kind of scran you’d happily go back for without thinking twice.”
He also sampled two classic cakes. The coffee and walnut slice and Victoria sponge were described as more basic than the savoury options, but still enjoyable for the price point. “Coffee and walnut first – it’s a bit basic, a little dry, but still quite tasty. Victoria sponge up next, same story – simple but does the job,” he said.
He closed his review with a clear three word verdict: “Home Bargains – you’ve smashed it.” Home Bargains has been gradually expanding its in-store cafe offering across selected locations, focusing on low prices and quick, casual food and drink – and if this review is anything to go by, bargain hunters are more than happy to queue for it.
