HMDG Introduces Independent Advisory Board to Strengthen Governance Framework

HMDG, a healthcare marketing and strategy business operating across private healthcare and the MSK sector, has announced the formal creation of an independent Advisory Board to support stronger clinical oversight, ethical governance and long-term strategic decision-making.

While newly formalised, the Advisory Board builds on a governance approach that has existed informally since the company was founded. Historically, HMDG has sought challenge and review from senior clinicians and experienced industry professionals before launching initiatives. The new structure provides clarity, accountability and consistency to that process.

With clinical expertise embedded at the heart of the business, HMDG has long combined healthcare professionals with commercial capability. As the organisation scaled nationally, leadership recognised that informal consultation alone was no longer appropriate. The Advisory Board has therefore been established as part of a more structured and independent governance model.

The Board has a defined remit that includes reviewing new initiatives ahead of launch, acting as a critical sounding board for leadership, questioning internal assumptions and ensuring decisions align with patient outcomes, ethical practice and clinical standards.

Jack Chew, who has worked closely with HMDG as a clinical advisor, supported the formation of the Board by helping to identify senior individuals with experience across healthcare delivery, leadership, operations and technology.

Lucy Macdonald joins the Board as a physiotherapist and healthcare leader with experience building and exiting private clinics. She is currently Lead Physiotherapist and Founding Director of Restart Physio in Surrey and holds a number of non-executive, consultancy and media roles.

Nicola Graham brings experience across NHS practice, elite sport and private healthcare. She previously owned and exited a multidisciplinary healthcare business and now works in fractional and board roles within preventative health, human performance and sports technology, following completion of an Executive MBA.

Ove Indergaard contributes nearly 30 years of MSK experience. He is Founder and Chief Executive of Indergaard Physiotherapy Ltd, leading a multi-site clinic group in northern England, and is internationally recognised for his work in Shockwave Therapy education.

Laura Beaven completes the Advisory Board. A chiropractor by training, she is Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Dyer Street Clinic, where she helped scale the organisation from a small practice into a multidisciplinary clinic employing more than 20 staff.

Commenting on the announcement, HMDG CEO Ben Marcilhacy said: “As HMDG has grown, so has its responsibility to the sector. The Advisory Board exists to ensure decisions are challenged, standards remain high, and the business continues to act in a way that is clinically credible and ethically grounded.”

HMDG has confirmed the Advisory Board will operate as a permanent element of its governance structure, supporting transparency, accountability and continuous improvement.
