From a subtle spotty blouse to a totally dotty mid dress, polka-dots are back this spring – here’s how to style them

Polka dots are making a resurgence as this season’s print. They were popularised by Dior’s “New Look” in 1947, and we have had a soft spot for the dots ever since. They have appeared in Milan’s streets and runways during fashion week and have been a staple in Kate Middleton’s wardrobe for years. They remain a royal classic as Harriet Sperling was spotted wearing a cornflower blue dotty co-ord on Easter Sunday.

Brands like Nobody’s Child and Ghospell are part of a fresh reimagining of this timeless print this spring – everything from classic black and white spots on co-ords to chunky dots on fitted dresses. But no matter the item, they always seem to find the balance between chic and elegant, and feminine and playful.

Here are our top six looks for incorporating the print as you transition to a spring wardrobe.
