Claudia Winkleman embraced the capri pants comeback at the BAFTA TV Awards in a chic look inspired by ’90s minimalism

The TV BAFTAs red carpet is usually filled with glamorous gowns and statement tailoring, but Claudia Winkleman took a different approach this year, stepping out in a look that felt effortlessly cool, nostalgic and very Claudia all at the same time.

Wearing cropped black capri trousers paired with a sharp black blazer, Claudia leaned into the pared-back minimalist trend we’ve seen so much of this year and instantly made us think of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s iconic style. While Carolyn may not have worn capri pants herself (instead opting for cropped kick flare jeans), the monochrome palette and clean look of Claudia’s outfit felt very much in line with CBK’s aesthetic.

Capri pants, which were once considered pretty divisive, are officially back for spring/summer, with celebrities including Bella Hadid and Kylie Jenner already embracing the trend. The cropped style became popular in the late 90s and early 00s, but it was around long before then, having famously been worn decades earlier by style icons Brigitte Bardot and Audrey Hepburn.

What we love so much about Claudia’s take is that it feels modern, polished, and true to her signature all-black wardrobe, while still nodding back to the iconic looks of the 90s and noughties.

While we don’t currently have the details on the exact pair Claudia is wearing, we’ve rounded up a few similar styles to shop from the high street.
