People could be getting much more for their money
People could inject a “clean and natural” touch to homes with a living room set that B&M claims to “complement most interiors”. Shoppers might want to consider this bundle when updating their spaces, as it’s more budget-friendly than other stores’ bundles.
Describing the set online, B&M bosses wrote: “Add versatility and modern style to your living room with this Home Collection Set of Two Tables. Featuring a modern panelled style with a clean and natural finish, this pair of tables effortlessly elevates any living space and complements most interiors.”
The discount store claimed that the set of tables would be perfectly suited to being “side tables or lamp tables”. The smaller of the pair stands 31cm tall with a surface area of 34cm, and the second table is slightly taller at 38cm with a surface area of 40cm.
The set of two is new to B&M and available in stores for £35. This modern design is not exclusive to the store; other brands offer something similar for much more money.
For example, Argos is selling a single Habitat Luan Slatted Side Table for £90 (offered via click-and-collect or home delivery). The deal already looks better at B&M, since shoppers can claim two tables for £55 less than the single-table version at Argos.
Describing the Luan piece online, Argos bosses said: “It is solid wood with a clean white painted finish that brings a calm, Nordic-inspired feel to your living room or bedroom. The slatted design adds a bit of character while staying practical and unfussy.
“It sits comfortably next to your favourite armchair or sofa, fitting into relaxed, modern spaces without taking over. The slatted design keeps things light and airy rather than blocky.”
The homeware store confirms online that the Argos version is larger than the bigger B&M table, measuring 50cm tall and having a table surface of 50cm too. It also claims to be made from “solid wood” as opposed to B&M’s version, which is made from MDF.
Shoppers looking to renovate a room on a budget might be drawn to affordable options at shops like B&M and Home Bargains. In some cases, items may be virtually identical to more expensive brands but at a fraction of the cost, which few would know unless you told them.
One other example of this is the deal on curtains at Home Bargains. The discount chain has an £8 offer on its Home Collections Blackout Single Curtain, which looks very similar to a more expensive Dunelm version costing £17 more.
Elsewhere, shoppers may still be able to find the £18 Ania Glass Ball Lamp that our shopping writers thought was a near identical match to something from Oliver Bonas, worth £99. The “stylish and decorative piece” was “designed to complement any traditional or modern home”.
