Shoppers could save almost £90 by opting for a cheaper lookalike option at B&M
B&M is selling a £5 lamp that rivals a more expensive lookalike version available at Next. The bargain superstore has recently reduced the price of the lamp from £10 to £5, while Next’s option, which looks similar, is priced at £95.
B&M’s Concrete Table Lamp is available to view online on B&M’s website, and shoppers can check which branch is selling it using the postcode tool. In the product description, the store says the lamp can enhance a home’s look and be used to decorate almost any common living area.
It says: “Add some style to your home with this gorgeous Concrete Table Lamp. Ideal for creating some stylish lighting on a desk or table at home.”
The £5 lamp could be a budget-friendly option for shoppers who like the look of Next’s Ecru Textured Ceramic Table Lamps, but don’t want to spend close to £100. Next’s option comes in a pack of two, meaning each lamp is worth £ 47.50, which is still almost ten times to price of B&M’s version.
The product description of Next’s lamps reads: “Bring a calming aesthetic to your home with the set of two pack of Textured Ceramic Table Lamps. This sophisticated duo features a statement ceramic base with a subtle, textured finish in a soothing grey/ecru tone.
“The urn-like shape of the base provides a classic yet contemporary anchor. Each lamp is topped with a complementary tapered shade in a neutral, linen-effect fabric that diffuses the light beautifully, creating a warm, ambient glow perfect for beside a sofa, bed or console table.”
While both lamps look similar at a glance, with an urn-shaped base and near-identical shades, there are still some differences, besides price. B&M’s lamp weighs 2.77kg, while Next’s weighs 4.5kg. The dimensions for B&M’s lamp are D28 x H47.5cm, and Next’s is bigger at 55.cm tall and 33cm deep.
Next’s lamps only have one review so far from a shopper who rated the lighting five stars. They said: “Gorgeous lamps. Great lamps, lovely neutral colour and a white cord.”
Another potential lookalike lamp at B&M includes the store’s Nara Concrete Table Lamp, which costs £20. Its product description reads: “This Nara Concrete Table Lamp is both practical and ornamental. With its modern and fresh design, this lamp would make a perfect side table or desk lamp. Add to your home for a style upgrade.”
It looks similar to Next’s Grey Lydford Large Table Lamp, which costs £110. It comes in either grey or black, with two sizes to choose from. So far, it has an average customer rating of 4.9 stars out of five, with many people impressed with the value and quality.
