Amber O’Brien, 33, was tragically found dead at Somerton Court, in Blackley, Greater Manchester, and an investigation has now led to 31-year-old Stephan Garner being charged with murder
A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead at a Greater Manchester tower block.
Emergency services were called to a scene at Somerton Court on Broadmoss Drive, Blackley, around 6pm on Sunday (April 19) with residents seeing armed police enter the tower block.
Amber O’Brien, 33, was tragically found dead at the scene and an investigation has now led to 31-year-old Stephan Garner being charged with murder.
A statement issued by Greater Manchester Police said that Garner is being held in custody and will be appearing today at Manchester & Salford Magistrates’ Court.
It read: “Stephan Garner, of Somerton Court, Blackley, has been charged with murder following the death of a woman at the weekend. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Manchester & Salford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 22 April 2026. These charges relate to an incident on Broadmoss Drive, Blackley, on Sunday 19 April 2026.”
Following Ms O’Brien’s death, tributes have been posted on social media from friends and loved ones, reported Manchester Evening News.
One read: “A beautiful woman gone far too soon. A smile that could light up any room, a laugh so loud it made you laugh. A gorgeous girl, a beautiful soul. You will be surely missed.”
Another tribute said: “What a beautiful girl inside and out, u was always the best person towards anyone n everyone no matter what.”
