Some Barclays customers recently received a £200 bonus
Barclays has issued a statement regarding future bonus payments for its customers. This follows the high street lender recently distributing £200 payments to select account holders.
The banking giant offered a £200 incentive to those who switched their current account to a Barclays Bank Account. However, this deal closed on May 28, with applications needing to be submitted by this date to qualify. Numerous banks have been introducing similar switching incentives in recent months, in a bid to attract new customers. Nationwide Building Society recently unveiled a £175 switching offer, alongside announcing a further round of £100 payments for members through its Fairer Share scheme. This naturally prompts the question of whether Barclays might launch another offer in the coming months.
Regular reviews
The bank was quizzed on whether it has any plans for a similar cash bonus scheme. A spokesperson responded: “We regularly review our products and offers to make sure they meet the needs of our customers, and we’ll continue to assess opportunities in this space.”
The bank was also pressed on what criteria it weighs up when deciding whether to launch such a deal. Barclays replied: “We keep our propositions under constant review, listening closely to customer feedback and considering a range of factors to ensure we’re providing competitive and compelling options.”
The major high street bank recently clarified its debit card policy after a query from one of its customers. The person reached out to the bank via social media, concerned that their debit card was due to expire shortly.
Debit card rules explained
They were keen to find out when their replacement card would be delivered. Barclays responded: “All debit cards are sent out 5 weeks before the current card expires. It can take up to 7 working days to arrive after it has been sent.”
The bank also advised the customer that they could get in touch via direct message regarding the matter. Barclays customers are able to view their bank cards through the Barclays app, by selecting ‘Your cards’ on the home screen, located just beneath their account balance.
