Amazon has released several new models of its Ring doorbell that come with some significant upgrades.
Amazon has unveiled new additions to its Ring doorbell line-up, including a new model said to be the ‘most advanced’ yet. The tech giant’s flagship security range has received some major upgrades and a redesigned look with the new generation of Ring Battery Video Doorbell.
This new-and-improved device is one of the more affordable models in the line-up at £79.99 and captures video day and night in Retinal 2K quality. It also boasts a wider field of view compared to older generations and can film up to 6x enhanced zoom to enhance fine details such as faces.
The new Ring Battery Video Doorbell is already the best-selling product in Amazon’s intercom category, with more than 500 sold in the past month. It allows users to speak to visitors and accept deliveries with two-way talk from a smartphone or compatible Alexa device.
There’s also a new addition in the line-up with Ring Battery Video Doorbell Pro, touted as the ‘most advanced’ model yet. Priced at £219.99, this is the first Ring video doorbell with 4K image quality, with this enhanced feature capturing crystal clear and more lifelike video.
It also boasts AI-powered Retinal Vision, what Amazon describes as next-generation imaging technology. With this, every image is optimised by AI to capture sharper, clearer and crisper video, as well the ability to film with 10x zoom.

Amazon has launched a new-and-improved model of its Ring Battery Video Doorbell.
Both models deliver real-time notifications when motion is detected and can emit pre-recorded voice alerts to deter intruders. Users can also set privacy zones so the Ring Video Doorbell will not record or display video from specific areas.
Both the Ring Doorbell and Ring Doorbell Pro are said to offer an easy DIY installation. Users simply need to screw the mounting bracket to a surface and click the doorbell into place and use the included removal tool to click it out of place when it needs recharging.
As well as the device itself, buyers of either model will receive a 30-day free trial of the Ring subscription plan, providing the ability to save, share, and replay recorded videos for up to 180 days. While arguably the most well known, Amazon’s Ring isn’t the only video doorbell brand on the market.
Tapo is just one rival that’s currently knocking more than 10% off its D230S1 Wireless Battery Video Doorbell at £84.79 (was £94.99). While also capturing 2K video, a selling point of this model is its subscription-free option, where a microSD can store up to 512GB of video with no additional fees.
Shoppers seeking a more affordable model could opt for the Blink Video Doorbell at £49.99 from Argos, but this captures video in a lower resolution than the Ring models at Full HD 1080p. Neither the Ring Video Doorbell nor the Ring Video Doorbell Pro are yet received any reviews from Amazon customers, but the previous generation racked up more than 20,000 ratings and a score of 4.5 stars.
One satisfied shopper said: “Such a great piece of kit. So easy to set up, adding that extra security with a good picture quality. Love the fact that you can see what’s going on wherever you are in the world at any time, day or night. Has a good motion sensor and a long-lasting battery.”
Another said: “I’m really impressed. The battery life has been excellent, and it was very easy to install and set up. The image quality is great, clear and sharp both day and night.”
Although they left a five-star review, the same buyer added: “My only slight concern is the small removal tool, as you hardly ever need to charge it, so it would be easy to misplace.”
Meanwhile, another happy customer said: “Installation was quick and straightforward – I had it set up and working in just a few minutes. The head-to-toe view is excellent and gives a clear picture of who’s at the door and any parcels left on the step. It’s a great bit of kit for home security – reliable, easy to use, and very effective.”
