England head coach Thomas Tuchel has submitted his provisional 55-man list to FIFA ahead of World Cup 2026
Thomas Tuchel has submitted a mandatory 55-man England squad to FIFA ahead of World Cup 2026. Mirror Football has examined all 51 players who have received call-ups from the German during previous international windows to determine who might have been included.
With the summer tournament in Mexico, the United States and Canada rapidly approaching, all 48 participating nations have submitted an extended list to FIFA, from which their final 26-player squads will be chosen.
Stars on this roster can be summoned to replace those who make the final selection, should they subsequently suffer injury or become unavailable for the World Cup. The English FA’s list remains confidential like most others, but reports suggest that Danny Welbeck, Luke Shaw and Jarrad Branthwaite are featured. Tuchel has never selected any of this rumoured trio previously.
Since he assumed control in January 2025, a total of 51 players have featured in his senior squads and these earlier selections could offer hints as to who has made the 55.

England are scheduled to confirm the final 26 who will travel to the World Cup on Friday, May 22, with the squad being submitted to FIFA by June 1 and published on June 2. Players must be chosen from the extended list submitted this week.
Of the 51 players Tuchel has previously selected, certain names are almost guaranteed to feature on the 55-player list. These include skipper Harry Kane and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who have appeared in nine of the German’s 12 matches in charge alongside Ezri Konsa.
Just three players have clocked up more appearances, with Morgan Rogers on 11 and Declan Rice and Marcus Rashford featuring in 10 England fixtures under Tuchel. One would expect these three have secured their places as well.
Jordan Henderson, Anthony Gordon and Jarrod Bowen have turned out eight times since Tuchel’s appointment, while both Elliot Anderson and Eberechi Eze have made seven appearances.
Anderson is amongst nine players to whom Tuchel has awarded international debuts, fielding him against Andorra in September 2025. Others include Dan Burn, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Trevoh Chalobah, Djed Spence, Nico O’Reilly, Jarell Quansah, James Trafford and James Garner.
Four players have been named in senior squads by Tuchel but are yet to receive any playing time from him: Goalkeepers Jason Steele, Nick Pope and Aaron Ramsdale along with midfielder Alex Scott.
