A new collaboration between Rapsodo and the Golf Club Management Association (GCMA) is set to help golf clubs across the UK consider new ways to modernise their driving ranges. By connecting club managers with accessible sports technology, the partnership aims to improve practice experiences, make better use of existing facilities and help clubs identify sustainable commercial opportunities.
Rapsodo Range has already established a growing presence in the UK, with more than 10 installations completed in under a year across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Created for golf clubs and independent driving ranges, the system integrates ball and club tracking, video replay and interactive tools to bring a more technology-rich approach to practice.
Upgrading existing facilities with less disruption
With Rapsodo Range, clubs can introduce advanced practice technology without an upfront investment other than a refundable security deposit. Flexible contracts and the ability to equip just a few bays provide options for facilities of different sizes. The compact setup can work in locations where a conventional large driving range is not feasible, and installation is generally completed within a day, subject to site requirements.
The system measures 11 aspects of performance, including ball speed, carry distance, club speed and launch angle. It also offers video replays, virtual courses and interactive games, giving golfers additional ways to develop their skills and enjoy practice sessions. Operators can use these features to improve engagement, encourage return visits and make their facilities more appealing throughout the year.
Matthew Rigby, Rapsodo’s Director of International Markets, said: “Driving range technology should be accessible to clubs of different sizes, not just large commercial facilities. Our growing UK installation base demonstrates demand for a flexible, cost-effective solution that benefits golfers and makes commercial sense for facilities. Through the GCMA, we look forward to bringing that opportunity to more club managers.”
The approach is already being used at Middleton Hall Golf Club, where every one of the club’s eight driving range bays has been equipped with Rapsodo Range. David Freeman, Director at the club, said: “We were impressed by the exceptional value for money and how easy the system was to set up. The results speak for themselves: increased footfall, higher revenue and extremely positive feedback.”
The partnership will enable GCMA members to find out how technology can support the development of existing practice areas, strengthen golfer engagement and introduce new revenue opportunities without requiring extensive construction or redevelopment.
Darren Wood, GCMA Partnerships Manager, said: “We’re pleased to welcome Rapsodo as a new GCMA partner, strengthening our network of leading organizations supporting golf clubs and the people who manage them. This partnership will provide opportunities for GCMA members to learn more about Rapsodo’s technology and its applications within golf, while enabling Rapsodo to build closer relationships with club managers and professionals across the UK.”
