Reporter Daniel Hall from out sister site Chronicle Live is at the scene now.
He said: “It’s a really busy bank holiday Monday morning in Tynemouth. Plenty of people are walking along the seafront with surfboards and dogs, and there are lots of cyclists too. “The incident is on one of the main routes between long sands beach and Tynemouth Metro station, and those who don’t go down front street are likely to pass it.
“The cordon is on Back Prudhoe Terrace between The Dog Hoose and Tynemouth Post Office. The Post Office is currently undergoing renovation works and there is scaffolding up on the building.”
