As the King and Queen have bid farewell to the President and First Lady, Trump was quick to compliment Camilla to the monarch as she had her back turned
King Charles and Queen Camilla have bid farewell to the President and First Lady of the United States in a ceremony outside the White House.
After completing a day of engagements in New York on Wednesday, Their Majesties travelled back to Washington DC to say goodbye to Donald and Melania Trump after their several days together.
As the Trumps greeted the King and Queen as they arrived by car on the South Portico of the nation’s capital, the US leader and the monarch exchanged pleasantries and compliments before they headed inside the White House to formally bring a close to their visit.

And as lip reader Jeremy Freeman told the Mirror, President Trump was full of praise for Queen Camilla. As the two couples stood outside the White House, Trump said to the King: “It’s been good. It’s been important. Look at everybody,” before pointing to Camilla and saying: “I don’t know how she does it, she’s amazing”.
The President then turned to the Queen and said: “It was fantastic. I look forward to seeing you again. Thank you for making it a success. Love to the grandchildren”.
First Lady Melania also thanked the royal couple for their visit, as she said to Camilla: “I’m glad you had a great time,” before turning to Charles and saying: “Thank you, we loved having you here. See you soon. We loved you. Have a good journey.”
Melania also noticed that Camilla was wearing the Tiffany brooch that she was given as a gift by the First Lady during their trip to the UK last September, as she said: “Oh that’s so wonderful.”
As Their Majesties, the President and the First Lady posed for photos outside the White House, they were called upon by reporters as one asked the King: “Your Majesty, what do you think of the Trump renaissance and all the improvements in DC?” Charles responded: “I like it, very interesting.”
Charles and Camilla drove away to attend their day of engagements in Virginia, as Trump continues to sing their praises to the onlooking media. The US president hailed Charles as “the greatest king in my book”, adding that he and Camilla are “really great people. We need more people like that in our country.”
After the King and Queen departed Washington DC, they headed to Arlington in Virginia where they placed a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arlington National Cemetery, and received a 21 gun salute.
Their Majesties then travelled to the small town of Front Royal, where they attended a ‘block party’: a neighbourhood celebration to celebrate America’s 250th ‘birthday’.
As a parade of marching bands, cheerleaders, the town’s local community trolley and classic British and American cars proceeds down Main Street, The King and Queen, accompanied by the Governor of Virginia, Ms. Abigail Spanberger and the Mayor of Front Royal Ms. Lori Athey Cockrell, joined in the bustling community celebration.
