A young man is currently fighting for his life following a vicious assault in the early hours of Sunday.
The horrific attack occurred on Hawkins Street, Dublin, at around 12.20am.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital with serious injuries and remains in a critical condition.
Police have launched a full investigation and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward, reports Dublin Live.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai are appealing for witnesses in relation to a serious assault that occurred on Hawkins Street, Dublin 2 at approximately 12.20am on Sunday, 5th July 2026.”
“A man, aged in his 20s, was brought to Beaumont Hospital to be treated for serious injuries and he remains in a critical condition.
“Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.
“Anyone who was in the vicinity of Hawkins Street between 12am and 12.30am this morning Sunday 5th July, 2026 and who may have camera footage – including dash-cam footage – is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Pearse Street Garda Station on (01) 666 9000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station. Investigations are ongoing.”
