I am an Investment Research Analyst with a strong interest in fundamental equity research, valuation, and long-term investing, with a primary focus on the U.S. healthcare sector. My professional experience includes equity research coverage across U.S. Specialty Pharmaceuticals and Medical Supplies & Devices, while my broader areas of interest include biotechnology, large-cap pharmaceutical companies, and selected opportunities across other industries where fundamental analysis can uncover attractive risk-reward opportunities. In my current role, I support institutional equity research by building and maintaining detailed financial models, analyzing quarterly earnings, evaluating industry trends, conducting peer comparisons, and assessing potential catalysts and risks. My modeling experience includes discounted cash flow (DCF), sum-of-the-parts (SOTP), net present value (NPV), and relative valuation methodologies. I also participate in earnings calls, analyst call-backs, corporate access events, and industry research to better understand company fundamentals, management expectations, competitive positioning, and changing market dynamics. My investing approach is primarily fundamental and valuation-driven. I focus on understanding how a company generates revenue and cash flow, the sustainability of its competitive position, its balance sheet and capital allocation strategy, margin and earnings potential, and the assumptions embedded in its current valuation. I place particular emphasis on the relationship between business fundamentals, forward earnings expectations, valuation multiples, catalysts, and downside risks. Rather than relying exclusively on short-term price movements, I aim to develop an investment thesis based on what a business could reasonably generate over the medium to long term and whether the current market valuation appropriately reflects those prospects. Healthcare is particularly interesting to me because analyzing companies in this sector requires combining financial analysis with an understanding of clinical developments, regulatory milestones, product pipelines, commercialization opportunities, patent dynamics, and competitive landscapes. On Seeking Alpha, I plan to write primarily about pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and medical supply companies, including earnings analyses, company deep dives, valuation updates, investment theses, and discussions of important industry developments. I may also occasionally explore companies outside healthcare when I believe the fundamental or valuation setup warrants deeper analysis. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the National University of Costa Rica and am currently pursuing a Licentiate degree in Economics. My academic research has included economic cycles, unemployment and Okun’s Law, the 2008 financial crisis, and climate risk in the financial sector. I am also a Financial Modeling & Valuation Analyst (FMVA®) certified professional and have completed Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC), Bloomberg Finance Fundamentals, Bloomberg ESG, Bloomberg Spreadsheet Analysis, and S&P Capital IQ Fundamentals certifications. Before moving into investment research, I gained experience in market analysis and data-driven decision-making through roles at Colliers International and Amazon. These experiences strengthened my analytical foundation and ultimately reinforced my interest in financial markets and company analysis. My purpose in writing on Seeking Alpha is to continue developing as an equity research analyst while sharing structured, transparent, and evidence-based investment research with a broader community of investors. I want my articles to help readers understand not only whether a company appears attractively valued, but also what assumptions drive that valuation, what could change the investment thesis, and what risks investors should consider. Writing also provides an opportunity to continuously challenge my own assumptions, improve my analytical process, and engage with investors who bring different perspectives to the companies and sectors I follow.
