A woman was left in despair after her toilet seat became covered in unsightly yellow stains, but a budget cleaning item has left it looking brand new in minutes
Battling unsightly stains on toilet seats can be a real domestic horror story. It turns out urine is often the villain, causing discolouration when it reacts with water and organic substances such as bacteria or fungi on the seat, lid, or within the bowl.
Then there’s the common adversary – hard water stains or limescale, resulting from a build-up of calcium and other minerals that leave glaring marks.
Not to forget, bleach, the trusty germ slayer, which might sabotage efforts by leaving an undesired yellowish stain if used in high concentrations on plastic seats.
After a cleaning enthusiast tried various products to remove yellow stains from their toilet seat, they reached out for assistance on the Mr Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks Facebook group: “Help! My toilet seat is stained and I have tried so much to get it off but nothing has worked.”
They detailed their exhaustive cleaning battle: “I’ve tried using a scourer with pink stuff, baking soda and vinegar, lemon, Viakal and bleach – you name it.”, reports the Express.
Feeling hopeless, they added, “Nothing works and I feel so dirty. Has anyone got any advice, or am I going to need a new toilet seat? ” The post, complete with a photo of the stained seat, received over a hundred responses, but the top suggestion was a simple magic eraser.
Magic erasers are hailed as the go-to solution for stubborn stains that many struggle with, and they’re gaining quite the reputation for their ability to tackle the toughest marks. Sarah Ridge was impressed, saying: “A magic eraser works wonders! Only thing I’ve found that removes these stains.”
Lauren Watson couldn’t stop talking about her discovery: “The Flash magic sponge is incredible. I thought the stains on my toilet seat were going to be impossible to remove before I tried this.”
Another fan of the product, who found it effective on a variety of surfaces, claimed: “A magic eraser sponge works wonders on everything, even removes stains on walls without any damage.”
Ruth Angus recounted her success story: “Try a magic sponge, I used one as a last resort and it worked perfectly. The stains just disappeared and it only took a minute of rubbing it. No scrubbing here.”
And Katie Thomas was over the moon with her find: “Magic eraser! I have just recently discovered how magical these things really are and man are they life-changing.”
