Police say the woman, who is in her 70s, was allegedly sexually assaulted while enjoying a meal at a restaurant in Woolton, Liverpool, when a man touched her inappropriately and kissed her
An elderly woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man at a busy restaurant. The alarm was raised with police attending the restaurant on Allerton Road in Woolton, Liverpool at around 1pm on Wednesday, March 19.
The man – who was unknown to the victim – is accused of touching the woman inappropriately and kissing her. Detectives have now issued CCTV images of a person they believe may have information that could assist with their investigation Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher said: “We take reports of sexual offences very seriously and we are very keen to speak with the person featured in the images to help with our enquiries.
“This was a traumatic experience for the victim which left her shaken. We are working hard to ensure that the person responsible is identified.
“We hope this man can come forward to assist with our enquiries or that others may recognise him and provide this information to the police.
“We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries. We also encourage people to come forward if you know anything about the incident which will help with our investigation.”
Merseyside Police said: “Detectives have issued CCTV images of a man who may have information that could assist enquiries following a sexual assault inside a restaurant in Woolton.
“Officers received a report on Wednesday 19 March that a woman in her 70s was touched inappropriately and kissed by a man in the restaurant on Allerton Road at 1pm that day.“Extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted and detectives have issued CCTV images of a man they believe could assist in their investigation.”
