A woman named Isobel Millington was thrilled when she stumbled across a cashmere jumper in a charity shop – but she was even more delighted when checking the label
Charity shops are a great source for unique clothing items which you might not find elsewhere. And if you’re fortunate, you might even stumble on a real bargain. This was the case for a woman named Isobel Millington, who was utterly astounded by what she found during her recent second-hand shopping spree.
Isobel, who lives in Berlin, Germany, frequently travels back to her hometown in Italy. And while she’s there, she always makes time for a bit of thrifting. This is because many English tourists donate their clothes to a specific charity shop. As a cashmere enthusiast, Isobel decided to browse through the knitwear. It didn’t take her long to find a jumper with lots of potential.
She took to TikTok to showcase her bargain item, telling viewers: “I bought this jumper for €8 (around £7) yesterday in my town’s charity shop.”
Isobel also posted a photo of herself wearing the blue jumper in question. She added: “I knew it was a cashmere jumper on sight because I can hunt cashmere like a bloodhound. Checked the label and it was indeed 100% [cashmere].”
After bringing it on and wearing it, she soon realised the jumper was a lot better quality than she first thought. She went on to look at the label, which made her even more excited, as she realised the knitwear was far more valuable than the price tag suggested.
Thrilled with her discovery, she exclaimed: “Ladies and gentlemen, this is a brand new four hundred pound sterling fine Scottish cashmere jumper. That I got for €8 (£7).”
The item is a 100% Scottish cashmere V neck jumper from the brand Brora, which originally retailed for €450 but was on sale for €330. It’s selling for £379 on the company’s UK site.
Brora is a British brand established in 1993, but its origins are deeply intertwined with Scotland’s long-standing tradition of cashmere and tweed production. The company collaborates with one of Scotland’s oldest mills, ensuring an authentic heritage product.
The brand uses the finest grade of cashmere, primarily sourced from goats in Mongolia and China, and spun and knitted in Scotland. The meticulous craftsmanship results in garments that are luxuriously soft, durable, and long-lasting.
It’s no wonder that Isobel was so delighted – and several people were equally thrilled by the discovery. One enthused: “Brora is always a blessinggggg.”
“I wish I could make finds like that,” another person said, while a third simply stated: “LUCKY YOU.”
Another person went on to share that a well-known British celebrity also adores the Brora brand. They shared: “Brora is worn a lot by Claudia Winkleman in The Traitors, especially her gloves I think.”
To this, an excited Isobel responded: “No way!!!!”
