A major outage has hit WhatsApp with thousands of people having difficulty using the messenger application this afternoon around the world and there is a sudden spike in cases now in the UK
Brits have reported a sudden major Whatsapp outage with a spike in people unable to send or receive messages this afternoon.
The Meta-owned social media giant is down for thousands of users globally, according to outage tracking website Downdetector. Many reported having difficulty in uploading data and sending messages.
Downdetector data showed that 49% of people who reported problems had them when trying to sending messages. While 46% had difficulty with the app and a further 4% where struggling to use the voice facility on Whatsapp.
There are currently more than 100 people who are reporting problems in the UK compared to just six an hour ago. And the problem is not just nationwide with people telling of having issues globally.
WhatsApp services have been affected by a disruption, leaving hundreds of users unable to connect, send messages across both the mobile application and the web-based platform. In India alone, over 900 reports have logged, with more than 90% of these citing issues with sending messages. The remaining reports indicated server connection problems and general app malfunctions.
