‘Warm as Toast. Loving my blanket. Best thing ever’

Now that the colder weather is officially here, many shoppers will be searching for ways to stay cosy and warm at home. There’s an electric blanket on Amazon that’s great for the job.

The Russell Hobbs Electric Blanket Pink Heated Throw Microfleece is currently available from Amazon for £49.99, down from £59.99, saving shoppers a handy 17%. The blanket comes in other colours in the microfleece material as well, including beige, black and grey.

Users can choose from nine adjustable heat settings with this blanket, and it has a 12-hour auto-off timer. Measuring 130 x 180cm, the brand says this blanket is large enough to completely wrap around the body or place across the bed for ultimate comfort.

‘I tried the Rituals beauty advent calendar and it’s perfect for a relaxing pamper’

What’s more, the brand says the blanket is energy efficient, with ‘a low energy use and quick heat-up time’. It also has a detachable, easy-to-use controller and cable, and it can be washed at cool temperatures if any spills or stains happen.

An alternative is Lakeland’s new StaySnug Bubble Faux Fur Heated Throw, available for £59.99. This has nine heat settings, nine timer settings with an auto shut-off function, and it’s machine washable with a detachable control.

There’s also the Silentnight Luxury Heated Throw in Sage Green from Argos, which is priced at £60. This has nine heat settings, a 15-minute heat-up time, a timer with an auto shut-off function and claims to have ‘low energy consumption’.

Shoppers have written positively about the Russell Hobbs Electric Blanket Heated Throw Microfleece, with Amazon users leaving an average 4.2 out of five-star rating, from more than 40 reviews so far. One said: “Warm as Toast. Loving my blanket. Best thing ever.”

A second shopper wrote: “I’ve had several heated blankets in recent years… they end up getting snaffled by younger family members, or gifted to friends. But I’m hanging onto this one. It’s my favourite, a lovely colour and even on the lowest heat it’s so cosy. I love it.”

A third said: “Got this for a family member’s birthday, they are so happy with it. Nice, warm and soft, even without turning it on. A good size too. Cheaper than running the heating, so it has been worth every penny.”

Others were more critical, with one person writing as part of a longer review: “The only issue I’ve noticed is with the remote cable, which seems rather thin and somewhat fragile for something that’s likely to be used regularly. I can only hope it lasts. Still, it’s a reasonably priced solution to staying warm without needing to heat the entire flat.”

Another said as part of a longer review: “Sometimes I use it at the bottom of the duvet. It has that subtle oven smell that mini heaters/hair tools have. It attracts a lot of pet hair, use the rake lint thing before washing.”
