A recall notice for certain batches of two sweet products has been issued over undeclared allergens missing from packaging
A food recall alert has been issued for certain batches of two confectionery products due to undeclared allergens. Shoppers with allergies to soya and/or milk have been urged not to consume the items.
The recall has been announced by Italian food brand Seggiano, which confirmed that two of its nougat products are affected. This follows allergens being omitted from the packaging and ingredient labels. The Food Standards Agency’s risk statement warned: “These products contain milk and soy lecithin making them a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents or an allergy to soya.”
Seggiano clarified in its own statements that the allergen soya lecithin was not declared on the packaging for one batch of the Seggiano Chocolate Covered Torrone. Two batches of the Seggiano Pistachio and Chocolate Covered Torrone failed to declare the allergens soya lecithin and milk on the label, reports the Express.
The products affected by the recall include:
Chocolate covered Torrone 125g
- Batch code: 250925
- Best before: September 25, 2026
Pistachio and Chocolate Covered Torrone 125g
- Batch code: 011225
- Best before: December 1, 2026
- Batch code: 260925
- Before before: September 26, 2026
The brand has advised customers with allergies or intolerances to soya and or milk not to eat the confectionery. Seggiano has been instructed to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, according to the FSA.
The FSA confirmed the company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices inform customers why the product is being recalled and advise them what to do if they have purchased the product. Any customers who have bought the impacted batches of Seggiano products are urged to return them to the point of purchase for a full refund.
