Heal’s has existed in London since 1810 and remains popular to this day – and was even advertised in Charles Dickens’ Bleak House

Heal’s, one of London’s most cherished and long-standing furniture stores, has unveiled a new homeware collection that allows shoppers to spruce up their space for less than £100. The range marries the brand’s renowned craftsmanship with the sleek, contemporary aesthetic it has been celebrated for since its inception over two centuries ago.

Established in 1810 by John Harris Heal, the store initially sold feather-stuffed mattresses at a time when the majority of people were still sleeping on straw. It later gained recognition for its stylish, durable furniture that endured the passage of time, even featuring on the back cover of Charles Dickens’ Bleak House in 1837, one of the earliest retail adverts of its kind, as reported by Antique Collecting Magazine.

The collection boasts more than 299 items for homes, but some products are particularly noteworthy – such as the Scented Candle To The Sea by Lo Studio, priced at £49. According to the website, each Lo Studio candle fuses artistry with function, designed to infuse rooms with a refined sense of tranquillity and sophistication.

The Scented Candle To The Sea product encapsulates the spirit of the Cornish coastline, blending notes of fresh rock salt and samphire with citrus bergamot and warm ambrette musk mallow. The result is a crisp, coastal scent, and each 220g candle provides up to 60 hours of burn time.

The Barton Croft Mug, priced at £28, could be a lovely addition to your Christmas list or a thoughtful gift for someone else. Handcrafted in Portugal, this mug features a textured finish and an organic shape that fits comfortably in the hand, bringing a touch of warmth and serenity to everyday life, reports the Express.

The iconic Helsinki Lamp is included in the autumn collection for cosy homes

The Helsinki Task Lamp blends mid-century design with modern functionality, making it ideal for desks, bedside tables and reading corners.

The Helsinki Task Lamp is now available for just £84, down from its original price of £99, giving buyers a 15% discount. This lamp embodies classic mid-century style with its clean lines and subtle detailing.

Available in black or chrome, its metal shade features a fine pinprick pattern that casts a gentle light, creating a warm modern feel. With an adjustable head for targeted illumination, it’s a practical yet stylish choice for desks, bedside tables or cosy reading corners.

For those looking for bedding or sofa accessories, the Heal’s 59 Cushion Olive & Cream 45 x 45cm is on offer for £75. Made from 100% cotton velvet, this cushion features a pattern inspired by a 1959 Heal’s poster and includes the brand’s iconic H. Handmade in India and filled with soft feathers, it adds texture and a subtle nod to Heal’s history.

Other popular furniture brands include Dunelm, which offers the Beatrice Striped Floor Lamp for £65 on its website as a ‘special buy’. This slim-shaped lamp is perfect for a range of spaces, is durable and made of high-quality polyester, and comes in multiple colourways.

Amazon is currently offering a limited-time deal on the Aspire Homeware Grey Cushions with Covers, slashing the price to £20.18 from £24.99. This deal includes a set of eight plush velvet cushions with covers (45 x 45 cm), featuring an invisible zipper.

While there are no individual reviews for these products, Heal’s customers have taken to Trustpilot to share their thoughts on the brand. One chuffed shopper said: “Absolutely brilliant customer service (thank you, Eugene) and the best delivery team ever. Very happy with my new table and bench and wish I could only ever shop with Heal’s.”

Another praised: “Fabulous dining table and flawless service.”

Some had minor quibbles with the pricing, as one person noted: “Good service and item arrived as described. Expensive but reliable quality.”

However, most people were impressed, like this customer who enthused: “Outstanding customer service. Beautiful furniture and furnishings, delivery and excellent communication.”

More information about Heal’s homeware can be found on their website.
