The UK is forecast to see a dramatic weather change after weeks of scorching conditions, with WXCharts predicting temperatures could fall as much as 11C below the July average
UK temperatures are set to plummet after weeks of sweltering heat, according to the latest forecasts.
WXCharts has forecast a significant drop in temperatures on July 28, with some areas seeing mercury levels fall as low as 6C. The south of England and East Anglia will be the warmest, with highs of 14C and 15C expected in Norwich, London, Canterbury, Oxford, Bristol, Portsmouth, and Exeter.
The Midlands and parts of the north, including Birmingham, Nottingham, and Manchester, will see temperatures ranging between 12C and 13C. Wales, including Cardiff and Conwy, and Northern Ireland, including Belfast and Derry, will experience highs of 10C to 12C.
But it will be far colder across the north of England and south of Scotland. The mercury is expected fall to single figures in the likes of Newcastle, Carlisle, Edinburgh, and Dumfries in the coming days.
The coldest regions of the UK will be central and northern Scotland, including in Inverness, Aberdeen, and Wick, where 6C is likely this week. The weather map above shows the change in temperature as the green colour represents colder climes, with the darker the hue, the chillier it is expected to be on July 28.
With England’s average July temperature around 24C and Scotland’s average maximum around 17C, the forecasted figures represent a staggering 11C below the seasonal norm, reports the Express.
The Met Office has issued its own separate forecast for the period: “Dry on Friday for most with sunny spells. Northern and northwestern areas will be cloudier with occasional patchy rain or drizzle.
“Into the weekend and perhaps the start of next week, more unsettled weather with rain at times, especially across northern parts of the UK. This rain may very well reach southern areas too, but could become more light and patchy here.
“Confidence becomes lower as we approach the turn of the month, but there are signs that high pressure will return, which means dry conditions would resume, especially in the south.
“Winds will be mostly light or moderate, occasionally fresh around northern coasts. Temperatures are expected to be near or above normal, warmest in the south, perhaps becoming very warm again by the start of August.”
