Weather maps show another spat of extreme heat will hit the UK next month as areas will see temperatures in the high 30s as the Met Office say August is forecast to be ‘very warm’
Brits can expect another wave of extreme weather as heatwave conditions are expected to return at the beginning of next month.
NetWeather weather maps have turned bright red illustrating the high temperatures the UK will experience as the Met Office say conditions could turn “very warm again by the start of August”.
Temperatures will climb at the end of July with much of the nation to bake in extreme heat on Friday, July 31.
On this day, areas in the south are expected to see the hottest temperatures with London reaching 32C.
However, the hottest counties are forecast to be Sussex and Gloucestershire at 36C and 37C.
It is likely that if temperatures do reach these levels further heat warnings will be issued, and disruption could be felt across the UK.
All regions above 30C:
- South West England
- South East England
- Greater London
- East of England
- East Midlands
- West Midlands
The heatwave will then continue over the coming days, although temperatures will slightly decrease.
A heatwave is a prolonged period of excessively hot and humid weather, lasting for three or more days typically.
It is defined relative to the normal climate of a specific location, meaning a temperature that is standard in one region can be considered a heatwave in another.
On Saturday, August 1, temperatures will still sit in the thirties, with London warming up to 33C, according to the weather maps.
Suffolk and Norfolk are also likely to see highs of 34C. The Midlands is also forecast to welcome warms of 31C and 32C.
However, in the South West temperatures will drop dramatically to 27C, still feeling warm for many Brits.
These conditions will slightly change as much of the nation will ease into the twenties on Sunday, August 2. However, in the South East there will still be highs of 31C.
Starting the next week on Monday, August 3 many areas will remain at similar temperatures with Essex expecting to reach 30C. In the Midlands, many areas are forecast to experience 28C and 29C.
The Met Office forecast for August 2 to August 16 states: “Temperatures will very likely remain above normal, with potential for further hot spells, particularly in the south.”
However alongside these warm conditions there is also chances of stormy weather. It adds: “Although most areas may see dry weather for much of the period, occasional summertime thunderstorms are possible on some days given the right ingredients.”
