Balmy weather could be set to hit major UK cities like Manchester and Birmingham in just a few days – as forecasts have revealed the exact day a ‘mini heatwave’ will start
Parts of the UK are set to be hit with a “mini heatwave” that could bring summerlike temperatures to certain places in the country.
The weather is due to get warmer next week and people in some parts of the country will be able to put on their sunglasses and leave their jackets at home. The exact date people in some parts of the UK will get 24C weather has been revealed. A weather map forecast by WXCharts has predicted several major British cities will turn the maps orange, by getting into the 20’s. Manchester is set to get glorious 24C temperatures on Wednesday.
The area in and around the northern city could reach that 24C high at 6pm on April 30. Manchester won’t be the only part of the country to get warm weather on that day.
Cities like Birmingham and Liverpool could see temperatures reach 21C on Wednesday. Other parts of the country won’t be as lucky with the summery weather as places like Glasgow and Cardiff could see temperatures reach 19C.
The warmer weather will start to come in the day before on April 29. Temperatures in Manchester could reach up to 21C. Areas near Newcastle and London could reach around 20C on Tuesday. Liverpudlians might also bask in the sunshine as they are also set to get 20C weather on Tuesday.
This means some areas of the UK could get warm weather for two days in a row next week. Not all parts of the UK will be as lucky because cities like Glasgow and Plymouth could see their temperatures reach just 17C.
The Met Office’s long range weather forecast has described most of the country getting dry and sunny spells, for April 29 to May 8. The forecast said: “Widely fine and dry across the majority of the UK for the first couple of days of this forecast period.
“Clear or sunny spells are likely across most regions, although the north and northwest of Scotland and Northern Ireland could be cloudier with a little light rain or drizzle at times.
“Into early May, it will probably begin to turn more changeable, with dry, settled periods interspersed with some spells of unsettled weather.
“This will bring some showers or longer spells of rain at times, which could be heavy and thundery in places. Temperatures are likely to be widely above average to begin with, but will probably fall nearer normal as we move into early May.”
The Met Office has shared similar predictions, forecasting that London could get 22C temperatures on April 29 and through to April 30. Manchester and Nottingham are also expected to be hit with 22C temperatures on April 29, according to this forecast.
