Warm, sunny weather will be felt across most of Britain over the next few days as the nation gets an early taste of summer – temperatures could top 22C in some areas
Britain is set to enjoy summer-like warm temperatures this weekend and into next week, according to new weather maps.
As many as eight regions of the UK could be basking in temperatures of up to 22C next week as an area of high pressure continues to influence conditions towards the end of April.
Forecast data from WXCharts shows widespread minimum temperatures of 20C next Wednesday, with areas to the south set to be warmest.
The mercury will reach between 14 and 20C in Wales, and roughly between 11C and 19C across Scotland. Areas potentially topping 21C at this time include Somerset, Dorset, Berkshire, Hampshire, Gloucestershire, and Warwickshire, the maps appear to indicate.

And it could reach 22C in areas around the West Midlands and Staffordshire – well above April’s average daytime maximum temperature of 14C.
Meanwhile, the current warm spell is set to continue into the weekend, with plenty of sunshine for most of the country.
Steven Keates, Deputy Chief Forecaster said: “High pressure will remain broadly in charge of the UK’s weather for the remainder of this week and into the weekend.
“Most places will remain dry with a fair amount of sunshine too. As is often the case, there are a few exceptions, with cloudier conditions for some at times and patchy rain possible for northern Scotland later in the weekend, so keep an eye on the forecast as the week progresses
“In the sunshine, we’re expecting temperatures to steadily climb, likely peaking in the low twenties on Friday and over the weekend. Onshore breezes will keep some coastal areas somewhat cooler. And gardeners beware, where skies are clear and winds light overnight, a patchy frost is also likely.”
It’s currently peak season for tree pollen, and Britain’s 16 million hay fever sufferers have been warned that this weekend’s sunny weather and clear skies could also bring around some familiar symptoms.
The Met Office’s pollen forecast shows levels at ‘High’ across England and Wales on Saturday, and tipping over into ‘Very High’ in the Scottish Borders.
Experts at St John’s Ambulance said you can decrease exposure to pollen include wearing wraparound sunglasses and using Vaseline around your nostrils, which may help stop pollen getting into the eyes and nose.
