The May bank holiday weekend has arrived, meaning plenty of people will be enjoying an extra day off work and school.
However, while the long weekend provides an excellent opportunity to unwind and catch up with friends and family, it does mean certain shops will be shut.
Unlike Christmas Day and Easter Sunday, shops aren’t required by law to shut on bank holidays. That being said, many will run reduced opening hours to give staff members the chance to enjoy some extra time off, the Manchester Evening News reports.
Britain’s major supermarkets – such as Aldi, Lidl, Tesco and Sainsbury’s – usually operate on reduced hours during bank holiday, so to avoid headaches on you Monday grocery run on Monday, it’s recommended that you check if your local store is open before making the journey.

Aldi
Aldi has confirmed branches will be open on Bank Holiday Monday.
