Latest weather maps show snow could cover most of the UK from Scotland to Cornwall this weekend, with up to 1 metre forecast in some areas and 80 counties affected
The UK is bracing for a potential onslaught of snow blizzards, according to the most recent weather predictions.
WXCharts.com maps indicate that snow could blanket the UK this Sunday (February 15), stretching from Scotland all the way down to Cornwall.
Other regions expected to be impacted include the north west and north east of England, the Midlands, the south west, parts of Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, and Wales. The north of England could witness up to 8cm of snowfall, but harsher conditions are forecasted for Scotland, where some northern areas could see up to a metre of snow.
The latest weather maps and forecasts also suggest these regions could experience snowfall rates of up to 10mm per hour, while southern and south western England are more likely to be lashed by rain.

The Met Office’s forecast warns of weather “turning wetter on Sunday with widespread snow likely across the north”, reports the Express.
A weather warning for snow and ice is already in effect for Scotland and the north of England, lasting until midday on Friday, February 13.
The Met Office’s full forecast stated: “Outbreaks of rain will fall as snow over higher hills initially, before the snow starts to fall to lower levels through Thursday evening. Any settling snow will mainly be confined to high ground, above 200 metres 2 to 5 cm is possible, and above 300 metres, a few locations may see as much as 10 cm. The rain and snow is expected to clear south during the early hours of Friday with temperatures expected to fall quickly as skies clear, leading to ice on untreated surfaces.”
