Brutal blizzards spanning 450 miles will sweep the UK from February 16, burying 29 cities in snow with depths reaching 130cm in Scotland and affecting areas as far south as Kent
Ferocious blizzards are poised to blanket 29 towns and cities throughout the UK as winter takes an unexpected and dramatic turn back towards freezing conditions.
A mammoth 450-mile stretch of blizzards will batter large parts of the country in little over a week, with some locations bracing for staggering snow depths of up to 130cm. Despite February’s arrival raising hopes that the bitter cold might be easing, the forecast suggests otherwise.
Weather maps from WXCHARTS have turned an ominous purple and white, signalling that substantial snowfall is imminent. The incoming Arctic blast is expected to arrive on Monday, February 16.
As the clock strikes midnight, millions will wake to find their streets transformed by snow. Perth and Kinross faces the worst of it, with forecasters predicting snow accumulations reaching a remarkable 130cm.

Aberdeenshire can expect depths of around 35cm, while the Scottish Highlands will experience up to 26cm. No part of Scotland will escape the snowfall, reports the Express. Down in England, the North East bears the brunt with depths predicted to hit 12cm, whilst Cumbria will see marginally less at 11cm.
Durham is forecast to receive 9cm of the white stuff, and Yorkshire and the Humber will experience up to 8cm. Even the Midlands won’t be spared, with around 2cm anticipated.
North Wales and portions of mid-Wales could witness depths approaching 3cm, whilst Suffolk and Norfolk will see 2cm. Snowfall is expected as far south as Kent, with 1cm predicted.
The temperature is also set to plummet dramatically, with parts of the Scottish Highlands, as well as Perth and Kinross, bracing for a chilly -4C. Central Scotland can expect temperatures around -2C, while both the North West and the North East will see the mercury drop to around 0C.
In Wales, the South West and South East, temperatures are forecast to hover between 1C-2C.
