Temperatures could hit 30C by the end of the coming week in the UK, according to the Met Office, with warm air moving in from Europe bringing above-average heat
Temperatures could rocket to 30C by the end of next week as a burst of hotter weather prepares to sweep across the UK, according to forecasters. The Met Office has revealed that high pressure will bring warm and humid conditions, pushing temperatures well above the seasonal norm.
The North East is set to bask in highs of 22C on Thursday and Friday. Those enjoying early summer staycations further south will be treated to even warmer conditions, parts of London tipped to reach 28C by the weekend.
That’s actually hotter than one of the Mediterranean’s most beloved holiday hotspots, the Spanish island of Ibiza, which is forecast to reach highs of just 25C next week. The UK won’t quite pip neighbouring Mallorca, however, where temperatures in the capital Palma are set to hit a scorching 35C.
This weekend, highs of 22.4C were recorded in Kent on Saturday, while London’s Kew Gardens reached 21.3C. Sunday is expected to remain fine and dry across most of the UK, though the North East can expect cloud and a few light showers following a sunny start.
Monday is set to be “a bright day with mainly fine, dry weather and light winds” for the region, with plenty of sunshine and highs of 17C. Looking ahead to Tuesday through Thursday, breezier and cloudier conditions are on the cards, with occasional outbreaks of rain as temperatures gradually climb, reports Chronicle Live.
Some parts of the country could see thunderstorms on Monday, though temperatures are expected to hold in the low 20s before cloud and rain sweeps in from the west on Tuesday. Forecasters are predicting a significant rise in the mercury from midweek, as warmer air from Europe pushes into the UK.
By Wednesday, temperatures across south-east England could climb to around 27C, with another blast of warmth anticipated on Thursday and Friday and carrying through into next weekend. Despite some cloud cover potentially keeping a lid on the peak temperatures, forecasters believe there is a genuine chance of 30C being recorded before the week is out.

On Sunday June 21 parts of the South East like Chelmsford in Essex, will hit 28C, along with Watford in Hertfordhire while Wisley in Surrey are expect to work inthese and
Bristol and Nottingham will be a touch cooler at 26C while coastal areas like Brighton will hit 27C. Manchester will feel cooler at 24C and it’s not good news for people further south in Cornwall as Newquay is due to be just 22C and cloudy.
Met Office forecaster Kathryn Chalk said: “We’re definitely seeing a warming trend from midweek onwards.
“Relatively warm and humid nights are also on the cards – not as expected as what we had a few weeks ago, because it won’t be wall-to-wall sunshine like that, we had a stronger signal for that compared to this, but nevertheless it is going to be turning warmer.”
