The hotel chain has launched a new initiative to support travellers with their fuel costs
One of the UK’s largest independent hotel groups is offering to help guests pay for their fuel costs. Macdonald Hotels and Resorts has announced that the new initiative is being offered at 29 destinations.
Guests booking two or more nights at participating hotels will be eligible to receive £25 towards fuel, while selected additional properties will also offer a £20 contribution. Bosses say the decision has been made to help guests as ‘fuel prices in the UK have surged significantly since the start of the year’, making it more expensive for families to fill their cars.
Although fuel prices flatlined over the weekend, RAC data shows unleaded and diesel prices have risen considerably since before the Middle East conflict broke out at the end of February, with unleaded about 24p more expensive and diesel up almost 47p a litre.
For holidaymakers heading to Macdonald Hotels and Resorts, the new scheme could help travellers at participating destinations cover the cost of driving to their accommodation. In addition to the fuel contribution, guests at selected hotels will also receive an extra £25 voucher to be redeemed on food and drink at the hotel destination
Hugh Gillies, Chief Executive Officer at Macdonald Hotels and Resorts, said: “Once again we are seeing significant volatility in the global energy market, which continues to place pressure on household budgets across the UK.
“By helping to offset the cost of travel, we are making it easier for guests to enjoy high-quality breaks closer to home without the added financial strain of rising fuel prices. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting our guests and ensuring that a staycation remains an accessible and attractive option, even in uncertain economic times.”
Macdonald Hotels and Resorts says the initiative is available exclusively on bookings made directly via the website. Guests will receive a unique QR code within 14 days of their visit that gives access to their fuel credit.
