A body has been recovered in the search for a 17-year-old boy who was reported missing after entering a Lake District tarn.
Cumbria Police received a call from a member of the public shortly after 12.30pm on Tuesday reporting someone in difficulty at High Dam Tarn near Windermere. The public was urged to stay away from the scene while a large-scale search was launched, involving Cumbria Police, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, North West Ambulance Service, HM Coastguard and local mountain rescue teams.
The force confirmed on Tuesday night that a body had been found and the death was not being treated as suspicious.
“The thoughts and condolences of the entire rescue team are with the male’s family and friends who are being supported by detectives,” Supt Patrick O’Hara said. “I would also like to thank local farmers who supported the operation conveying first responders and equipment off-road to the search area.”
