Oliver Davey, aged 20, who was reported missing from Barrow on Christmas Day

Investigators have made a tragic discovery in the search for a missing man who vanished on Christmas day.

A body has been found, police said, in the search for missing Oliver Davey, aged 20, who was reported missing on December 25.

The discovery was made in the Holker Street area of Barrow, shortly before 1.45pm on Sunday, Cumbria Police said.

While formal identification has not yet taken place, the force said Oliver Davey’s family had been informed of the discovery.

Oliver was reported missing from Barrow on Christmas Day, sparking a search for the young man.

A spokesperson for Cumbria police said: “A man’s body has been found in Barrow.

“The body was found earlier this afternoon (December 28) in the Holker Street area shortly before 1.45pm.

“The family of Oliver Davey, who was reported missing, have been informed.”

In their previous appeal for help Cumbria Police described how Oliver was last seen wearing a royal blue North Face fleece, black LUKE jogging bottoms, a black Armani T-shirt and black Nike 95.

The 20-year-old was described as 6ft 3ins tall, of slim build and with dark brown hair.
